The Ministry of Roads and Highways has assured the public that the deteriorating roads in the country will see massive improvement once the rains stop.<\/p>\n

The Ministry has been critcized for the deplorable state of some major roads in the country.<\/p>\n

In July, residents of Manhean in the Ga West Municipality, demonstrated against the poor state of the roads<\/span><\/strong><\/a> in the area.<\/p>\n

The problem has been exacerbated by the recent heavy rains across the country, which have exposed the poor construction of the roads.<\/p>\n

However, the deputy sector minister, Isaac Agyei Mensah, told Citi News <\/b>that the \u201cappropriate steps are being taken\u201d to maintain the roads once the rains stop.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaintenance is going to be key and that is the focus of the ministry now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as the roads die down, we will quickly get into action and make sure that steps are taken to maintain all the roads.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ministry announced that it generated an amount of Gh\u00a249.06 million<\/span><\/strong><\/a> from 35 toll stations last year and had, as at the end of June 2014, collectecd Gh\u00a2 27.8 million at 38 stations, including the Ada and Senchi Ferry stations.<\/p>\n

He added that the road funds were going to be used for the maintenance work.<\/p>\n

Mr. Agyei Mensah had, in June, stated that work was ongoing on the maintenance<\/span><\/strong><\/a> of roads across the country and insists that once work continues after the rains, there will be a \u201cdramatic improvement on the roads\u201d adding that he hoped that there will be \u201creasonable satisfaction by the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
