{"id":46708,"date":"2014-09-11T14:20:04","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T14:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=46708"},"modified":"2014-09-11T14:20:04","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T14:20:04","slug":"first-rand-bank-to-begin-operations-in-ghana-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=46708","title":{"rendered":"First Rand bank to begin operations in Ghana next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Citi Business News<\/b> has gathered South African Bank FirstRand Bank, will begin commercial operations in Ghana early next year.<\/p>\n<p><b>Citi Business News<\/b> can confirm the bank has secured a provisional banking license from the Bank of Ghana to commence operations.<\/p>\n<p>FirstRand, is South Africa\u2019s largest bank by earnings and market capitalization.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the bank&#8217;s first stint in Ghana, it was one of the main bank&#8217;s that expressed interest in acquiring Merchant bank now Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) last year.<\/p>\n<p>CEO of First Rand Sizwe Nxasana in an interview on the banking group\u2019s full-year results said the Bank Of Ghana expects the bank to put in $60m as part of the capital requirements.<\/p>\n<p>According to him &#8216; We have Ghana where we have a provisional banking licence. We are hoping we are going to be up and running there early next year. Mozambique is doing very well for us.
