The Madina Police Command is appealing for an immediate installation of traffic lights and street lights in the area to enhance pedestrian and commuter safety.<\/p>\n
The 5.6-kilometre highway from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange to the Pantang Junction has become a death trap. There are no road markings, pedestrian walkways, traffic lights and street lights.<\/p>\n
The absence of these road infrastructure is posing a great challenge to road users, pedestrians, commuters and drivers.<\/p>\n
The situation has resulted in needless road accidents and deaths on the main Legon -Madina stretch of the road.<\/p>\n

According to the Police, the accident occurred at an area with no Police control.<\/p>\n
The Madina Divisional Motor Transport Traffic Department (MTTD) Commander, ASP Michael Asiedu expressed fears that “more deaths will be recorded if immediate action is not taken.”<\/p>\n
He pointed out that because the road is still under construction, \u201cwe don\u2019t have traffic lights on it and we don\u2019t have zebra crossings.\u201d<\/p>\n
This he said poses a great challenge to the Police officers \u201cbecause the area has a big market center, people come from the Eastern Region and even from Accra and other surrounding areas.\u201d<\/p>\n
