14-year-old Marilyn Nanayaa Gyan has been crowned the winner of Citi FM\u2019s<\/strong> 2014 Write Away Contest<\/em>.<\/p>\n

She takes home GHC 5,000, a certificate of participation, a medal, a hamper from Standard Chartered Bank and five boxes of indomie.<\/p>\n

Marilyn attends the Falsyd Foundation School in Accra.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Inkoom came second while Nana Akua Aboraa Owusu Ababio Nhyira placed third.<\/p>\n

Vanessa will take home GHC 3,000, a medal, a hamper from Standard Chartered Bank and five boxes of Indomie while Nana Akua takes home GHC 1,000, a medal, a hamper from Standard Chartered Bank and five boxes of Indomie.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Inkoom was second in the Citi FM Write Away Contest 2014<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Speaking at the event, the Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Charles Aheto Tsegah, who was the chairman for the occasion said the\u00a0Write Away Contest<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is \u201cthe best public contest that is dedicated to building the minds of children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Tsegah praised\u00a0Citi FM\u00a0<\/strong>for demonstrating consistency \u201cto drive change.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not harnessing the potential of our children,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

Nana Akua Aboraa Owusu Ababio Nhyira was third in the Citi FM Write Away Contest 2014<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Educationist and Chief Examiner of the contest Annis Hafar, speaking at the event has charged the Education Minister, through her representative at the event to \u201cerect billboards across the country to encourage children to always read and write.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Special awards were also given to deserving contestants while the rest of the participants in the top 20 went home with five boxes of indomie and a certificate of participation.<\/p>\n

The other top ten finalists in the 2014 Citi FM Write Away Contest<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Participants in this year\u2019s contest were made to write their own short stories, with their own unique characters which ended with the idiom: \u2018A<\/i>\u00a0bird in hand is worth two in a bush.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

The Write-Away Contest<\/em> is sponsored by\u00a0Standard Chartered Bank\u00a0and\u00a0Indomie Instant Noodles.\u00a0The contest is supported by\u00a0Finlite\u00a0and the\u00a0Volta River Authority\u00a0(VRA)<\/i>\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>and powered by\u00a097.3 Citi FM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
