{"id":45292,"date":"2014-09-06T10:28:32","date_gmt":"2014-09-06T10:28:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=45292"},"modified":"2014-09-06T10:34:45","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T10:34:45","slug":"revised-shs-fees-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=45292","title":{"rendered":"Revised SHS fees released"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the approved fees for the 2014\/2015 academic year for students in all government-assisted senior high and technical schools (SHSs).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Fresh\/Continuing students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fresh students in boarding houses will pay GH\u00a2668.50 each, while their day counterparts will be paying GH\u00a2355.50.<\/p>\n<p>The amount include GH\u00a2175 for school uniform and clothing for both boarding and day students, approved teaching and learning support fees and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) levies.<\/p>\n<p>For continuing students, fees approved payable per term is GH\u00a2385 for boarding students and GH\u00a273 for day students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foreign students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;HI4HLYcH42hmrrpVTyBMcpoT5M9DeLAk&#8221;]A letter signed by the acting Director-General of the GES, Mr Charles Y. Aheto-Tsega, and addressed to all heads of senior high\/technical schools, however, stated that foreign students were required to pay a tuition fee of GH\u00a21,000 per term.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, which has been made available to the\u00a0<em>Daily Graphic<\/em>, said in addition to the tuition fees, foreign students were required to pay other charges that were applicable such as boarding fees and approved PTA levies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PTA levy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The letter explained that the GES had also approved a PTA levy of GH\u00a235, which included development levy of GH\u00a210 and utilities of GH\u00a25 for boarding students and GH\u00a23 for day students.<\/p>\n<p>The letter stressed that other PTA projects to be agreed at meetings at the school level must be approved by the Director-General.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll other items to be purchased by students must be placed in the school stores and be procured by requisition and charged to student bill as appropriate,\u201d the letter stated.<\/p>\n<p>It further explained that the bill for second and third terms for first-year students would be the same as continuing students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The letter advised heads of SHSs\/technical schools \u201cnot to include any levies which are not approved by the Director-General.
