Government has confirmed Dr. Prosper Akambong as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).<\/p>\n
As a major referral health facility serving the three regions of the north, the TTH has been without a substantive CEO for almost a year.<\/p>\n
This created room for several interest groups within and outside to mount pressure on President John Mahama to appoint a substantive CEO for the hospital.<\/p>\n
Health Minister, Dr. Kweku Agyemang Mensah announced that Dr. Prosper Akambong has been confirmed as substantive CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.<\/p>\n
He was in the region on a duty tour of some health facilities as part of government\u2019s preparedness to deal with the deadly Ebola disease.<\/p>\n
Elated Dr. Akambong told Citi News<\/strong> all inclusiveness will remain his policy.<\/p>\n He reaffirmed his commitment to motivate staff to take up refresher courses but\u00a0however called for an end to factionalism there to achieve the hospital\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n Citi News gathered that the TTH Board will on Wednesday September 3, 2014 hold a news conference to officially outdoor Dr. Prosper Akambong.<\/p>\n Reacting to the announcement, one of the opposing factions to Dr. Akambong\u2019s appointment called the Changli Youth Parliament of NDC claimed government\u2019s decision was ill-informed.<\/p>\n The group\u2019s Secretary, Alhassan Abdul-Barik insinuated that the hospital\u2019s Board of Directors misled government to confirm Dr. Prosper Akambong as the substantive CEO.<\/p>\n \u201cThe conflict of interest by the caretaker board Chairman started when the former CEO, Dr. Ken Sagoe handed over to the current acting CEO, Dr. Prosper Akambong; he did push for the acting CEO to be made the substantive CEO without any interview which was vehemently resisted by some Board members and the Ministry of Health.\u201d<\/p>\n Alhassan Abdul-Barik said due diligence was not followed for which reason the decision should be overturned.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Government has confirmed Dr. Prosper Akambong as the substantive Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
