President John Mahama<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The President, John Mahama has stated that the gap between the rich and the poor must be bridged to ensure equality among all Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

He called for vigilance in attempts to address the issues of existing inequality in Ghana saying, \u201cthe gap between the rich and the poor must be bridged.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, every child in Ghana \u201cmust have access to quality education, whether they are male or female, or whether they live in the village or they live in the city. Young people must also be afforded the skills needed in order to find gainful employment. Proper health care must be available to all our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President described these as \u201crealistic goals\u201d which must be met because the lives of Ghanaians depend on it.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out that Ghana is a nation \u201cwith the capacity and courage to achieve whatever it is we dare to desire; whether it is freedom or democracy or development.\u201d<\/p>\n

He expressed the willingness of his government to fulfill the desires and needs of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

Delivering the 57th Independence Day address at the Black Star Square, President Mahama noted that \u201cthe door we opened on 6th March, 1957, was not just a door to our future; it was not just to our freedom…this is what we are as Ghanaians.\u201d<\/p>\n

He mentioned that Ghanaians are \u201cable to take what other people consider impossible and make it possible. We are not easily defeated. We are willing to go the full distance in the protection of our country and in service of our dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President declared his government will ensure the ideals of the founding fathers of Ghana are followed to the latter by providing the basic necessities to build a decent life for every citizen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an ideal we must, and will continue working to achieve,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
