The Director of Waste Management at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Samuel Kpodo says the High Court\u2019s directive ordering the assembly to stop dumping liquid waste at the Korle Gonno Beach is premature.<\/p>\n
The Accra High Court on August 23 ordered the AMA to stop dumping liquid waste at the Lavender Hill area and gave the AMA a 14-day ultimatum to build digesters to treat liquid waste in the capital, Accra.<\/p>\n
However, in an interview with Citi News,<\/b> the director of waste management at the Accra Metropolitan assembly (AMA), Samuel Kpodo described the Court\u2019s decision as premature and revealed the assembly already had plans of installing digestors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe directive of the court is premature because we have been using this method over the years\u201d, he said<\/p>\n
He however noted that, the courts directive puts pressure on the AMA \u00a0but was confident the AMA was going to meet the 14-day deadline.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we are going to meet the deadline, we have already secured some digestors and have started using them behind the fire service training school\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor now we just have to bring on board additional digestors to take on all the liquid wast that we are generating in Accra\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
