{"id":41493,"date":"2014-08-24T19:00:21","date_gmt":"2014-08-24T19:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=41493"},"modified":"2014-08-24T22:09:24","modified_gmt":"2014-08-24T22:09:24","slug":"amas-handling-of-cholera-worrying-imani-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=41493","title":{"rendered":"AMA&#8217;s handling of cholera worrying \u2013 IMANI boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, has lamented what he described as the \u201clast minute attitude\u201d adopted by city authorities and government in dealing with the cholera outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>He attributed the recurring cholera outbreaks in Ghana to poor planning and the lack of foresight by successive governments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way we do our things, where we wait till the last minute, even if you were not prepared, you knew it was a cyclical thing\u00a0and you would have thought that people will have had the mind to plan ahead,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The cholera outbreak in the Greater Accra and Central regions, has recorded over 5,000 cases and 45 deaths since July.<\/p>\n<p>Hospitals in the Metropolis are overstretched due to the number of cases being reported daily.<\/p>\n<p>Cudjoe\u00a0questioned government\u2019s preparedness for an\u00a0Ebola outbreak in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, government\u2019s inability to effectively handle the outbreak of cholera should be a source of worry to Ghanaians since the Ebola disease is deadlier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t even deal with cholera and you are hoping to deal with Ebola.
