{"id":411948,"date":"2018-03-22T12:34:27","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T12:34:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=411948"},"modified":"2018-03-22T12:35:36","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T12:35:36","slug":"wogbejeke-song-birthed-my-african-identity-amandzeba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=411948","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Wogbejeke&#8217; song birthed my African identity &#8211; Amandzeba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Highlife legend Amandzeba, formerly known as Nat Brew, has revealed that the change of his name was inspired by the release of his song \u2018Wogbejeke.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Osei Kwame on Citi FM\u2019s \u2018Brunch in the Citi\u2019 on Tuesday morning, he said his journey to self-discovery was when he was exposed to a different environment in the United Kingdom and realised his name did not mirror his true identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got to know my identity while I was in the UK at a time I had released \u2018Wogbejeke.\u2019 When I finished that album, I said to myself, \u2018are you going to go out with that name again?\u2019 And so I reflected considerably. I would wake up in the morning and would not eat because I was thinking about what to com out with to reflect this persona,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The song, \u2018Wogbejeke\u2019 talks about the history and origin of Ghana, dating back to pre-colonial times.
