{"id":403262,"date":"2018-02-21T15:37:33","date_gmt":"2018-02-21T15:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=403262"},"modified":"2018-02-21T15:41:32","modified_gmt":"2018-02-21T15:41:32","slug":"new-juaben-npp-organizer-others-granted-bail-after-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=403262","title":{"rendered":"New Juaben NPP organizer, others granted bail after robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Koforidua Circuit Court B has granted bail to the four suspects standing trial for allegedly carrying out a robbery attack on the New Juaben South New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Secretary, Isaac Agyabeng.<\/p>\n<p>The court, presided over by her Ladyship Mercy Addae-Kotei, granted them bail in the sum of GHc 100.000 each.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;28rWWFv4tp5h63gv84cuT7AYcvsMWie9&#8243;]The suspects: Alex Owusu and Wadoski, were arrested by the police on Monday for breaking into the home of the NPP Secretary.<\/p>\n<p>They are alleged to have stolen GHc4,000, mobile phones and an envelope containing albums and documents intended for the constituency elections.<\/p>\n<p>Reports indicate that they were contracted by Obeng Manu, the New Juaben South NPP organizer and one Justice Afful. Two of the robbery suspects are at large.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer for the accused persons, Francis Poley, argued that his clients were not a threat to police investigations and, thus, qualified for bail.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-403266\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Koforidua-Circuit-Court-B-has-granted-bail-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Koforidua-Circuit-Court-B-has-granted-bail-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Koforidua-Circuit-Court-B-has-granted-bail-1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The suspects, who were charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime to wit robbery and robbery, will appear before the court on March 21, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Obeng Manu and Justice Afful reportedly drove the suspected robbers to the residence of the Constituency Secretary at Koforidua.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the suspects forced their way into the house, but the Constituency Secretary was not available.<\/p>\n<p>The Constituency Secretary&#8217;s aide, Pious Tevi, was however attacked, tied and blindfolded by the robbers.
