{"id":40090,"date":"2014-08-18T14:30:58","date_gmt":"2014-08-18T14:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=40090"},"modified":"2014-08-18T17:51:44","modified_gmt":"2014-08-18T17:51:44","slug":"us-lobby-firm-confirms-representing-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=40090","title":{"rendered":"US lobby firm confirms representing Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>International political and business consulting firm, Jefferson Waterman International (JWI), has confirmed that \u00a0it is representing Ghana&#8217;s interest in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>A statement on the their \u00a0website, revealed that the firm had been representing Ghana, which they describe as an \u201cOasis of Stability in West Africa,\u201d since February 24, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The firm, which also represents the Ivory Coast president, Alassane Ouatarra, says it is providing services that will help the country meet the challenges of regional turmoil and achieve the full promise of its oil production industry.<\/p>\n<p>According to JWI, they are \u201cbringing the importance of Ghana\u2019s continued stability and its widely recognized good governance to the attention of the American public, the U.S. Government, and the international community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The firm added that it is strengthening local infrastructure which it believes is crucial to commercial investment and oil production operations by providing \u201ceconomic and political consulting support\u201d to the<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer of JWI, Charles Waterman, said of Ghana: \u00a0\u201cThis is an African country that has experienced a peaceful transfer of power in successive democratic elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGhana is stable, and as a result, economic growth nurtured by the international community, has been outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is in the interests of the U.S. and the rest of the world to maintain this model of civil institutions, progressive leadership, and economic sanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The firm stated revealed that it was helping \u00a0the government manage the country\u2019s oil industry responsibly and avoid \u201cthe oil curse\u201d, so that its \u201csuccess benefits the people of Ghana and forms a strong foundation for decades of commercial growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They added that the Millennium Challenge Corporation\u2019s (MCC) selection of Ghana for renewal of its MCC Compact reflects Ghana\u2019s earned reputation for good business practices and economic performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJWI is increasing awareness that Ghana is that rarity among African nations: rich in resources, but with a demonstrated respect for the rule of law, an educated English-speaking workforce, and leadership that supports rather than hinders private enterprise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>JWI also confirmed that it is helping Ghana take adequate and effective security measures to ensure the safety of its offshore oil wells and personnel while ensuring that the influx of refugees does not destabilise the country.<\/p>\n<p>This, it says, is to make Ghana an even more robust counter-terrorism partner to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday, policy think-tank IMANI Ghana, said that it <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/08\/17\/imani-alert-govt-why-spend-millions-on-american-lobbyists\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">failed to see the sense in \u201cspending millions on American lobbyists,&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/span> given the country\u2019s recent economic struggles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International political and business consulting firm, Jefferson Waterman International (JWI), has confirmed that \u00a0it is representing Ghana&#8217;s interest in the United States.
