And the process will be able to establish that Martin Amidu is competent, capable, and a fair minded person in the discharge of his responsibility as special prosecutor.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_390769\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-390769\" style=\"width: 1080px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-390769 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Amidu.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Amidu.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Amidu-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Amidu-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Amidu-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-390769\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Martin Amidu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Parliament\u2019s Appointment Committee is expected to vet Martin Amidu on Tuesday, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/01\/31\/martin-amidu-faces-appointments-cttee-on-february-13\/\"><strong>February 13, 2018<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Amidu, a stalwart of the NDC, took on the party prior to the December 6, 2016 general elections, and accused some government officials then of corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>on the pain Martin Amidu caused the NDC during that election, Mahama Ayariga said they bare no grudges against the Special Prosecutor nominee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for the perceptions out there about him and the NDC, I think he is the one who has created that perception because through his writing, he has presented himself as a man out to witch-hunt the NDC, destroy the NDC as a political group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>I\u2019ve nothing to lose at my vetting \u2013 Martin Amidu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Martin Amidu, has said he personally <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/12\/ive-nothing-lose-vetting-martin-amidu\/\">gains nothing<\/a><\/strong> whether or not his nomination is approved.<\/p>\n<p>He has also appealed to his many supporters who cannot make it to the vetting venue, to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/12\/martin-amidu-apologizes-to-supporters-unable-to-attend-his-vetting\/\"><strong>follow the live broadcast<\/strong><\/a><\/span> on radio and TV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amidu has breached his principles by accepting SP job \u2013 NDC<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a related development, the [NDC, had accused Amidu of <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/06\/amidu-has-breached-his-principles-by-accepting-sp-job-ndc\/\"><strong>hypocrisy<\/strong><\/a><\/span> for accepting the nomination of President Akufo-Addo to become Ghana\u2019s first Special Prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC in a statement reminded that, Mr. Amidu, a former Attorney General, criticized the Special Prosecutor Bill in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur issue with the nomination of Mr. Martin Amidu is based purely and solely on important matters of principle. We note among others that Mr. Amidu has previously published a document challenging the constitutionality of the newly established Office of Special Prosecutor, the very office he has accepted to occupy,\u201d the NDC statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The NDC in its statement said \u201cwe are not at all concerned, contrary to the insinuations of some that he [Amidu] should now be handed the full authority of state power to possibly pursue this agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The opposition party further stressed the need to have an impartial Special Prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin A.
