{"id":397615,"date":"2018-02-02T13:47:45","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T13:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=397615"},"modified":"2018-02-02T13:47:45","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T13:47:45","slug":"im-back-to-work-thanks-for-your-prayers-bawumia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=397615","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m back to work, thanks for your prayers &#8211; Bawumia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has resumed official duties today, [Friday] February 2, 2018, after returning to Ghana on Thursday night from a 12-day medical leave in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post, the Vice President said: \u201cI have resumed work today [Friday]\u2026to continue with President Akufo-Addo\u2019s dream of helping build a prosperous Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bawumia left Ghana for the United Kingdom on Friday January 20; after the Presidency revealed that he had taken ill a day before on January 19, and had undergone medical tests.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;KLeOi1CgdkzG6a7NQggikxk9vVv6vxcs&#8221;]He subsequently returned to Ghana on Thursday after being on medical leave for past 12 days.<\/p>\n<p>In the post, Dr. Bawumia was thankful to everyone who prayed and supported him when he was unwell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate the fellow feeling, love and best wishes expressed during my recent medical leave. I am most grateful to the Almighty God for his mercies. In particular, I thank President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the first lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Chief of Staff, the Government, my lovely wife Samira Bawumia, my family, and you, the Ghanaian people, for the support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy sincere gratitude also goes to the mosques, churches and individuals who in diverse ways interceded on my behalf, as well as the medical staff who discharged their duties in a most professional manner,\u201d the Vice President added.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMBawumia%2Fposts%2F1601442639948739&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"695\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<strong>Nana Addo leaves Ghana for educational conference in Senegal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/02\/nana-addo-leaves-ghana-educational-conference-senegal\/\"><strong>has left Ghana for Senegal<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to attend a global education conference.<\/p>\n<p>His attendance is upon the invitation of that country\u2019s president, Macky Sall, and French President, Emmanuel Macron.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bawumia is thus acting as the President during Nana Akufo-Addo\u2019s absence from the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye, had acted twice in similar capacity when both the President and his Vice were not around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workaholic Bawumia sleeps only 4 hours \u2013 Mustapha Hamid<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, had earlier said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gets only three to four hours of sleep a day, and spends the rest of the time working for the people of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0on Thursday at the Kotoka International Airport on the sidelines of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2018\/02\/01\/bawumia-arrives-rousing-welcome-medical-leave-photos\/\"><strong>Bawumia\u2019s return\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>to Ghana, Hamid said he was hopeful the Vice President will have enough rest so that he does not break down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that he\u2019s a workaholic; he\u2019s been working so hard.
