{"id":397482,"date":"2018-02-02T07:32:42","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T07:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=397482"},"modified":"2018-02-02T07:32:42","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T07:32:42","slug":"french-referee-banned-6-months-kicking-player","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=397482","title":{"rendered":"French referee banned 6 months for kicking player"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sp-story-body__introduction\">A referee who aimed a kick at a player then sent him off has been banned for six months, half of which is suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Chapron fell to the ground when his heels were clipped &#8211; apparently accidently &#8211; by Nantes&#8217; Diego Carlos during a league match last month.<\/p>\n<p>Chapron, 45, kicked out at the player, then booked him for a second time.<\/p>\n<p>The referee &#8211; who was suspended after the game &#8211; was given his punishment by a French league disciplinary committee on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Carlos&#8217; booking was rescinded at Chapron&#8217;s request.<\/p>\n<p>Chapron has been refereeing in France&#8217;s top flight since 2004 and taken charge of more than 400 matches in that time &#8211; including the French Cup final in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the incident he had announced that this would be his final season as a referee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A referee who aimed a kick at a player then sent him off has been banned for six months, half of which is suspended.
