The British Council<\/span> in Ghana has announced the launch of the Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) Fashion and Design<\/span> Award 2014 to foster business and collaborations between the UK and other countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 16 international brightest emerging entrepreneurs from participating<\/span> countries \u2013 including Columbia, Russia, Nigeria and China \u2013 will be invited to take part in a programme<\/span> in the UK, from 10 \u2013 17 September 2014, as they will be given insight into the UK\u2019s rapidly evolving fashion and design sector.<\/p>\n

Highlights<\/span> of the programme include a glimpse into the latest developments<\/span> in the UK\u2019s fashion and design industry, curated access to both London Fashion<\/span> Week and 100% Design, the opportunity to network and present business ideas to industry expects, and networking sessions with international participants and young fashion and design entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

To qualify for the programme, applicants must own a young business in the Fashion and Design sector with at least 2 years\u2019 experience and no more than 7 years in business in Ghana. They should be able to demonstrate entrepreneurial skills in promoting the sector and to potentially be a future<\/span> leader of the fashion and design sector in the Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect that the YCE Fashion and Design Awards 2014 will be an ideal platform to encourage budding entrepreneurs in the field of fashion and design by offering them unparalleled business development opportunities in modern day fashion, through enhancement of business ties and partnerships between the UK and the Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking for people running great fashion and design businesses, who know that the ability to manage production and get product to market is just as important as fantastic design skills. They are looking for people who are using interesting materials, resources and business models to develop amazing products or to get other people\u2019s products to the marketplace; people who are engaging with cultural and social issues<\/span> and people who understand the power of collaboration\u201d<\/p>\n

On completion of the programme, candidates will be expected<\/span> to actively engage in future collaboration and business with<\/span> UK-based companies, organisations and individuals that they meet.<\/p>\n
