{"id":39657,"date":"2014-08-16T11:45:19","date_gmt":"2014-08-16T11:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=39657"},"modified":"2014-08-16T11:45:19","modified_gmt":"2014-08-16T11:45:19","slug":"zimbabwes-grace-mugabe-enters-zanu-pf-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=39657","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe&#8217;s Grace Mugabe enters Zanu-PF politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"story_continues_1\">The wife of Zimbabwe&#8217;s President Robert Mugabe has entered politics after being endorsed to become head of the ruling Zanu-PF party&#8217;s women&#8217;s league.<\/p>\n<p>Grace Mugabe, 49, will take over the role in December at the party&#8217;s annual congress.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC&#8217;s Brian Hungwe in Zimbabwe says the post will allow Mrs Mugabe to sit on Zanu-PF&#8217;s powerful politburo.<\/p>\n<p>There has been tension in Zanu-PF over who should succeed Mr Mugabe, who was re-elected president last year.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Mugabe was officially recommended to become the national secretary of the Zanu-PF women&#8217;s league at its elective congress, which has been taking place in the capital, Harare.<\/p>\n<p>The gathering was addressed by her 90-year-old husband, who has governed Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.<\/p>\n<p>She is his second wife and used to be his secretary.
