The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu has disclosed that two of the seven suspects who escaped from the Kwabenya Police station last Sunday, after armed assailants broke into the station and released them,\u00a0have been rearrested.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media on Thursday, the IGP said the two were arrested at Worawora in the Volta Region.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”z4mOCwEruU2eildqH4qiJhFEnCOqNagr”]He also added that three persons who aided the escape of the fugitives,\u00a0including a 28-year-old woman, have also been arrested.<\/p>\n

The attack on the police station resulted in the death of a police officer<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who was shot by the assailants<\/p>\n

The police subsequently released the photos<\/strong><\/span><\/a> of the seven fugitives and announced a GHc15,000 bounty for any information leading to their arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have since arrested two of the fugitives on Tuesday 23rd<\/sup> January at Worawora in the Volta Region. They are Atta Kwadwo and Prince Osei. Also, two accomplices who aided the escape of the fugitives were arrested in Accra on Monday 22nd<\/sup> January 2018 and yesterday 24th<\/sup> January 2018,\u201d the IGP said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the accomplices who were detained \u201cinclude a 28-year old woman named Nancy Bentah alias Awura Ama. The other is George Yeboah Ackah aka Kwesi Shower.<\/p>\n

The IGP also added that \u201cone more person Kofi Acheampong alias Nana Owuo age 32 was also arrested at Afienya.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said Nana Owuo is believed to be \u201cthe spiritual father of the suspect and a source of weapons supply to the criminals.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Asante-Apeatu revealed that items such as a coffin and skeletons were found at the place of Nana Owuo\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are confident of the arrest of the rest of the suspects,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n
