{"id":39437,"date":"2014-08-15T13:08:56","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T13:08:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=39437"},"modified":"2014-08-15T13:08:56","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T13:08:56","slug":"p-v-obeng-was-a-nationalist-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=39437","title":{"rendered":"P.V Obeng was a nationalist &#8211; Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s President, John Dramani Mahama has described the late Paul Victor Obeng as a unifier and a nationalist in a tribute to the former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission at the State House in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>In the tribute, read on his behalf by the Minister for Communications, Omane Boamah on Friday, August 15, President Mahama spoke of his sadness at the death of his \u201csenior brother, advisor, comrade and mentor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president recalled his last few moments with P.V Obeng, stating that they spoke \u201ctwo days before the shocking news at the conclusion of the National Economic Forum in Senchi\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cP.V was at his usual wise and unifying best when he spoke to me.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39463\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39463\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2276.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-39463\" alt=\"President Mahama and his vice at the state funeral for the late P.V Obeng\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2276-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2276-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_2276.jpg 675w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39463\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Mahama and his vice at the state funeral for the late P.V Obeng<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAt Senchi, he was actively engaged and conveyed the need for all Ghanaians to be included in the process moving forward,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The president spoke of his first encounter with PV.Obeng, stating that he was \u201cengaging and a driven man\u201d and was always available \u201cto provide valuable guidance and direction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama also described the late P.V\u00a0 as humane, humble, compassionate and dedicated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His eloquence came with suspense,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The president also lauded P.V Obeng&#8217;s experience, expertise and commitment to national unity and called on all Ghanaians to draw inspiration from his life.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/05\/17\/pv-oben-is-dead\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">P.V Obeng died on May 17 after suffering a cardiac arrest<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0and will be laid to rest on August 16.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s President, John Dramani Mahama has described the late Paul Victor Obeng as a unifier and a nationalist in a tribute to the former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission at the State House in Accra.
