Three of the major state agencies in charge of preventing the outbreak of diseases like Cholera are saddled with the same acute sanitation challenges which contribute to the outbreak of such filth related diseases, a CitiNews<\/strong> investigation has revealed.<\/p>\n

Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholera, as defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO).<\/p>\n

The Greater Accra region of Ghana has been hit severely by the cholera<\/a><\/strong> outbreak in the last three weeks.<\/p>\n

Over 70 persons have reportedly died from the disease in the Greater Accra region alone.<\/p>\n

Between June and July, the Greater Accra region has recorded a total of 878 cholera cases with the Accra metropolis alone recording 604 of the cases and eight deaths.<\/p>\n

Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Afriyie Amoakoa Mensah’s checks at the Ministry of Health, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, and the Ministry of Communications revealed that the toilet facilities in these agencies were in an unhygienic state.<\/p>\n
