The Member of Parliament(MP) for Manhyia South , Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has also joined calls for the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah to either resign or be sacked.<\/p>\n
Dr. Opoku says the governor should be fired for failing to take measures to stop the continuous fall of the cedi against major trading currencies.<\/p>\n
The Manhyia South legislator is not the first to request for the sacking of the governor.<\/p>\n
A Legal Practitioner, Dr. Maurice Apaw early this month, asked President Mahama to sack Dr. \u00a0Wampah for similar reasons.<\/p>\n
Dr. Wampah during the Economic Advisory Committee meeting said the continuous fall of the cedi will soon be resolved, but Dr. Opoku believes he should be sacked for failing to resolve the country\u2019s financial challenges.<\/p>\n
The Bank of Ghana, in February, introduced measures to save the free fall of the cedi but Mr. Opoku believes those measures were \u201cill-thought- through measures\u201d which will worsen Ghana\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
Dr.Opoku further stated that Dr. Wampah put the country through \u201cunwarranted problems\u201d by taking certain poor decisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I reviewed the way he handled the sale of the Merchant Bank, I thought that was good enough to leave but he didn\u2019t\u2026he put us through this unwarranted situation\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that Ghana recorded \u201cgargantuan failure\u201d under his leadership, adding that a lot of non-banking financial institutions had collapsed under his watch.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople have lost millions of cedis because of the weird sale of Merchant Bank and the two tier pension scheme that has been mismanaged\u2026 they cannot even account for monies that went missing. He should go so the Bank of Ghana\u2019s respect is not lost,\u201d\u00a0Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh insisted.<\/p>\n
