Former Minister of Comunications under the Rawlings regime, Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah took his turn before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
A session that lasted almost 6 hours saw the former minister of information answering questions covering a variety of areas including trade, industry,\u00a0 and his political career.<\/p>\n
Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah was nominated by President Mahama in June as Trade Minister to replace Haruna Iddrisu who would now move to the Ministry of\u00a0 Employment and Labor relations.<\/p>\n
In a session described by most Ghanaians as the longest vetting ever, it appeared the onetime presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) dazzled the members of the committee on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In an interview on Citi FM\u2019s Eyewitness News<\/i><\/b>, New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament and a member of the Parliamentary Appointment \u00a0Committee(PAC), \u00a0Titus Glover praised Mr Spio Garbrah\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n
He also explained the rationale behind the 6-hour vetting.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was the only nominee to be brought before us by His Excellency the President, so we needed to grill him and get the stuff out of him and I can say that personally, he had really excelled\u201d\u00a0 he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe asked him various questions on many sectors; industry, poultry, rice production,\u00a0 the work of CEPS, and his CV,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Assessing Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah\u2019s response to the \u201cteam B\u201d question , Titus Glover revealed that, \u201c He never found it easy, it was very difficult for him and he ate his humble pie and apologized\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Tituts Glover praised Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah\u2019s experience at the \u00a0Commonwealth and in the media industry saying he was the right person to serve the nation in that position as a Trade Minister.<\/p>\n
