{"id":388958,"date":"2018-01-05T07:36:19","date_gmt":"2018-01-05T07:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=388958"},"modified":"2018-01-05T07:42:42","modified_gmt":"2018-01-05T07:42:42","slug":"bog-2nd-deputy-governor-johnson-asiama-resigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=388958","title":{"rendered":"BoG 2nd Deputy Governor, Johnson Asiama resigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama has resigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> understands that his resignation took effect on January 02, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;qwMIj34xo45aDQejDSMJVBX1NTO43dgq&#8221;]Information available to<strong> Citi Business News<\/strong> also indicates that President Akufo-Addo has been informed of the resignation.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear what reasons may have led to the early resignation of Dr. Johnson Asiama.<\/p>\n<p>But some industry watchers believe this may be as a result of differences in ideology between the governing NPP and the erstwhile NDC government that appointed him.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Asiamah in December 2017, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/12\/11\/second-deputy-governor-denies-resignation-reports\/\">dismissed reports of his resignation<\/a><\/strong><\/span> when the issue first came up.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, he told <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> he was only on a ten-day leave.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Asiama was appointed on the 5th of April 2016 by then-President, John Dramani Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>He rose through the ranks after joining the bank in 1996 from Assistant Director, until his appointment as Deputy Governor.<\/p>\n<p>He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of \u00a0Southampton, United Kingdom, and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8211;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By: Pius Amihere\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama has resigned.
