anti-galamsey campaign recognized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Citi FM<\/strong> strengthened its position as one of Ghana&#8217;s leading radio brands as the station bagged six awards at today&#8217;s [Wednesday] Ghana Journalists Association [GJA] awards at the Banquet Hall in Accra<\/p>\n<p>The station&#8217;s anti-galamsey campaign, \u2018Stop Galamsey Now\u2019, which was launched earlier this\u00a0year, came up for special mention at the ceremony, with the station picking up an award for its unrelenting fight against the menace.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-384898\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0873.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0873.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0873-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Citi FM&#8217;s flagship programme, the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show,<\/strong> was named the best talkshow on radio, adding to the award it won at the\u00a0Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/23\/citi-breakfast-show-adjudged-2016-cimg-radio-programme-of-the-year\/\"><strong>awards in September this year<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-384888\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0750-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi FM<\/strong> also picked up honours for Best Political Reporting as well as an Anti-Corruption Award for the station.<\/p>\n<p>Host of the station&#8217;s news analysis programme, <strong>The Big Issue<\/strong>, Umaru Sanda Amadu, also picked up an award for his work in development journalism, which is contributing towards the attainments of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-384891\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799.jpg 675w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IMG_0799-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another of the station&#8217;s reporters, Kojo Agyeman, who <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/25\/citi-fms-kojo-agyeman-honoured-ghana-mining-awards\/\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>emerged first runner-up<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in the 2017 edition of the Ghana Mining Industry Awards, was also given a special award for his reports.<\/p>\n<p>His reports were key to the #StopGalamseyNow campaign which eventually prompted the Minister of Lands and National Resources, John Peter Amewu to crack down on the illegal miners.<\/p>\n<p>A six-month ban was imposed, and was eventually extended by three more months to January 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>List of awards won by Citi FM at the 2017 GJA Awards:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Special Award for the Fight Against Illegal Mining.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong> Anti Corruption Award.<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong> Best Talkshow ( Radio).<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong> Best Political Reporting<br \/>\n<strong>5.<\/strong> Development Journalism for Furthering SDGs &#8211;
