{"id":38374,"date":"2014-08-11T13:17:24","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T13:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=38374"},"modified":"2014-08-11T15:52:48","modified_gmt":"2014-08-11T15:52:48","slug":"cholera-cases-increase-at-la-general-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=38374","title":{"rendered":"Cholera cases increase at La General Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong> The La General Hospital continues to record an increasing number of cholera cases.<\/p>\n<p>Officials at the La General Hospital in Accra revealed that the hospital recorded 74 new cases between Saturday and Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019In fact from Saturday to today [Monday] we have seen new cases; 74 of them,\u2019\u2019 the hospital administrator, Philip Afeti Korto told citifmonline.com.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Administrator of the La General Hospital,\u00a0 the hospital has treated 586 cases since it recorded the first case on June 9.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Afeti Korto also revealed that six persons had died at the hospital from the disease, saying \u2018\u2019most of them were brought in dead already\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in line with the hospital\u2019s appeal for support to help deal with cholera case, Macbells Company Limited on Monday presented mattresses, disinfectants, bleach, liquid soap, gloves and other items to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The administrator expressed gratitude to Macbells for their kind gesture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI must say that I am extremely impressed because this is a hard time for us a hospital with the treatment of the Cholera patients; we thought that the cases will decrease but they keep on increasing.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38391\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38391\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/macbells.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38391 \" alt=\"From R-L; Controller of Macbells Company Limited, Raymond Bampoe-Addo presenting the items to the administrator of La General Hospital, Philip Afeti Korto\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/macbells-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/macbells-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/macbells.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38391\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">From R-L; Controller of Macbells Company Limited, Raymond Bampoe-Addo presenting the items to the administrator of La General Hospital, Philip Afeti Korto<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He concluded that the hospital needs more support.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019Macbells\u2019 action should open the door for more support,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the Financial Controller of Macbells Company Limited, Raymond Bampoe-Addo, said the company taught it wise to help the community in which it operates.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019The management of\u00a0 Macbells wants to assist and help the community in which it operates as well as support the fight against cholera,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Health Directorate of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) says the outbreak of cholera in the metropolis is gradually reaching an epidemic status.<\/p>\n<p>Over 500 cases of cholera have so far been recorded in Accra alone between June and July which has caused the death of five people.<\/p>\n<p>The assembly has been accused of supervising indiscriminate waste disposal in the capital which has resulted in the outbreak of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Evans Effah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The La General Hospital continues to record an increasing number of cholera cases.
