{"id":382866,"date":"2017-12-13T05:59:50","date_gmt":"2017-12-13T05:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=382866"},"modified":"2017-12-13T07:14:28","modified_gmt":"2017-12-13T07:14:28","slug":"ghana-germany-sign-e100m-partnership-for-renewal-energy-vocational-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=382866","title":{"rendered":"Ghana, Germany sign \u20ac100m partnership for renewal energy, vocational training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Germany and Ghana on Tuesday signed a 100 million Euros bilateral Investment and Reform Partnership agreement to promote private investment in renewable energy and vocational training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement is part of Germany&#8217;s G-20 Compact with Africa programme for sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ghana&#8217;s Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, and Germany\u2019s Deputy Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Friedrich Kitschelt, signed the agreement under the auspices of President Akufo-Addo and the visiting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Flagstaff House in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The partnership with Ghana is geared towards improving conditions for sustainable private sector investment, investment in infrastructure, economic participation, and employment in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Addressing the press after the signing ceremony, President Akufo-Addo warmly welcomed Mr. Steinmeier to Ghana, optimistic that his visit to the country would &#8220;renew the friendship and advance the dialogue that has been between our two countries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-382869\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Germany-and-Ghana-in-100-million-Euro-partnership-for-Sustainable-energy-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Germany-and-Ghana-in-100-million-Euro-partnership-for-Sustainable-energy-4.jpg 960w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Germany-and-Ghana-in-100-million-Euro-partnership-for-Sustainable-energy-4-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Germany-and-Ghana-in-100-million-Euro-partnership-for-Sustainable-energy-4-768x534.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Ghana being the third largest trading partner of Germany in Sub-Saharan Africa, the President said the relations between the two nations had been excellent, with many important features of commonality between both states.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Akufo-Addo said the German economy had been distinguished by the prevalence and importance of small and medium scale enterprises, a rich experience Ghana could exploit to scale up and strengthen the sector to revamp its economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The President noted further Germany&#8217;s leading role in the training of its workforce had made that country&#8217;s workforce one of the most efficient in the world &#8220;and it shows in the continuous performance and resilience of the German economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This is another area of great concern for us &#8211; the whole area of skills development and training for our workforce and for our young people,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The President told the German leader that his government&#8217;s main priority was the enhancement of education, which would ultimately scale up the capacity and competence of Ghana&#8217;s workforce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Germany, he noted, was an important world leader in the area of renewable energy, an area that held extreme importance and concern for Ghana, and which the country hopes to find &#8220;a meaningful intercourse with Germany.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Akufo-Addo stated further that there were many other areas of international concern where Ghana and Germany &#8220;stood shoulder to shoulder in our view of issues about terrorism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;And above all, we have taken a great deal of inspiration from the commitment of Germany\u2019s leaders in supporting the options that Ghanaians have taken to assume greater responsibility for their economic development.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Germany and Ghana on Tuesday signed a 100 million Euros bilateral Investment and Reform Partnership agreement to promote private investment in renewable energy and vocational training.
