The Ashanti Regional Police Command has established a special task force to deal with the increasing cases of violence which has characterized the on-going limited voters registration exercise in the region.<\/p>\n
Some of the equipment of the Electoral Commission [EC] was destroyed by an unknown group of persons on Friday while another individual was stabbed in the stomach at Abrotia.<\/p>\n
As such, the Police Regional Commander of the area, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye in an interview with Citi News<\/i><\/b> is asking persons assaulted by supporters of\u00a0 either the National Democratic Party (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to report the incident at the nearest police station.<\/p>\n
He pledged that, the Ashanti Police force would do their work without fear or favor.<\/p>\n
DCOP Kofi Boakye noted that, 120 police officers will be deployed across the region to go to every station\u201d and oversee the on-going registration exercise.<\/p>\n
The Electoral Commission, on Monday August 4, began a nationwide process across 6,000 centres, to register Ghanaians who turned 18 after the 2012 general elections and adults who could not register during the previous registration exercises.<\/p>\n
