{"id":368162,"date":"2017-11-04T07:41:29","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T07:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=368162"},"modified":"2017-11-04T07:41:29","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T07:41:29","slug":"twitters-rewritten-rules-published","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=368162","title":{"rendered":"Twitter&#8217;s rewritten rules published"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter has published a new version of its rules, which it says will clarify its policies and how it enforces them.<\/p>\n<p>It is part of a series of changes as the social network tries to address complaints of abuse and harassment on its website.<\/p>\n<p>It said the changes reflected the &#8220;latest trends in online behaviour&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>However, anticipated new policies relating to &#8220;violent groups, hateful imagery, and abusive usernames&#8221; will not arrive until 22 November.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Twitter shared that it will:<br \/>\nemail people if their account is suspended, explaining which policy they violated<br \/>\nconsider the context and &#8220;newsworthiness&#8221; of tweets when evaluating whether they are abusive<br \/>\ncontact people who may be considering harming themselves to connect them with healthcare professionals<\/p>\n<p>The website also clarified that it considers sexual acts involving humans, humanoid animals and cartoons to be &#8220;adult material&#8221;, but said in some cases such content was permitted if flagged as &#8220;sensitive media&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>While some people have urged Twitter to take more action against abusive tweets, others have accused the website of silencing or censoring free speech.<\/p>\n<p>In its new rules, the social network says: &#8220;We believe in freedom of expression and open dialogue, but that means little as an underlying philosophy if voices are silenced because people are afraid to speak up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter has published a new version of its rules, which it says will clarify its policies and how it enforces them.
