{"id":368125,"date":"2017-11-04T10:17:14","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T10:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=368125"},"modified":"2017-11-04T10:17:14","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T10:17:14","slug":"ho-airport-workers-strike-over-poor-working-conditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=368125","title":{"rendered":"Ho Airport workers strike over poor working conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Workers at the Ho Airport site on Friday morning staged a protest to seek better work conditions from their employers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The hundreds of casual workers said adequate safety and transportation measures had not been put in place for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;YymTQkO4Rbg5NA63OJbbGToQDrBW8rsx&#8221;]Wearing red armbands amidst singing and chanting, they\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">accused their employers of undermining their local union and imposing an alien union on them in order to &#8220;manipulate the system.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Their peaceful sit-down strike\u00a0was supervised by police personnel from the Ho Municipal Command who were deployed to ensure law and order.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The supervisors at the facility had locked the gates to the main site when <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0arrived at the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, the managers of the project have declined to comment on the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Airport has seen its first phase commissioned by the previous administration, with the final phase yet to be completed.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-million-dollar project funded by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), is being executed by Amandi Holding Limited, to boost economic activities and tourism in the Volta Region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: King Nobert Akpablie\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Workers at the Ho Airport site on Friday morning staged a protest to seek better work conditions from their employers.
