{"id":3661,"date":"2014-03-04T09:24:26","date_gmt":"2014-03-04T09:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=3661"},"modified":"2014-03-04T09:24:26","modified_gmt":"2014-03-04T09:24:26","slug":"reconsider-3-patients-per-day-decision-health-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=3661","title":{"rendered":"Reconsider 3 patients per day decision \u2013 Health Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_3663\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3663\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sherry-Ayittey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3663\" alt=\"Sherry Ayittey is Health Minister\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sherry-Ayittey-300x209.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sherry-Ayittey-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sherry-Ayittey.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3663\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sherry Ayittey is Health Minister<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Ministry of Health has asked doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to reconsider threats to attend to only 3 patients a day.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry has also called on the National Labour Commission (NLC) to engage the health workers at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors at the hospital have threatened not to attend to more than three patients per\u00a0day, thus\u00a0reviewing their procedures to conform to internationally acceptable\u00a0standards and also to avoid overworking to prevent mistakes that will incur the displeasure of the public.<\/p>\n<p>This decision was made after the Ministry of Health ordered a colleague doctor and the midwife who\u00a0were\u00a0on duty when the stillborn baby went missing to proceed on leave.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <b>Citi News<\/b>, the Public Relations Officer of the Health Ministry, Tony Goodman was of the opinion that the Doctors may not go ahead to implement their threats.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI don\u2019t think they are ready to embark on some of those things I hear in the media. Because when we spoke to management of the hospital, they are not sure some of those things are true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He maintained that since there is no official communication, the three-patient per doctor a day may not be implemented.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, the management of KATH has denied reports that two of the missing dead babies have been found.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Ministry, last week gave the hospital a two week ultimatum to produce five missing babies who were allegedly born dead.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital authorities also say only three dead babies were recorded on February 5, instead of the five the Health Ministry is demanding.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, hospital authorities are expected to meet on Tuesday over the directives from the Health Ministry to refer the doctor and nurse on duty on February 5 to the Dental and Medical Council.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Health has asked doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to reconsider threats to attend to only 3 patients a day.
