{"id":364779,"date":"2017-10-24T16:01:54","date_gmt":"2017-10-24T16:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=364779"},"modified":"2017-10-24T16:01:54","modified_gmt":"2017-10-24T16:01:54","slug":"hackers-breach-top-plastic-surgery-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=364779","title":{"rendered":"Hackers breach top plastic surgery clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">A high-profile plastic surgery clinic has said it is &#8220;horrified&#8221; after hackers allegedly stole data during a cyber-attack.<\/p>\n<p>London Bridge Plastic Surgery (LBPS) said\u00a0its IT experts and police found evidence of the breach.<\/p>\n<p>A group claiming to be behind the breach said it had &#8220;terabytes&#8221; of data, the\u00a0Daily Beast news site reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan Police is investigating the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged hackers, using the pseudonym The Dark Overlord, said they had obtained photos showing various body parts of clients, including genitals.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these images have been sent to the Daily Beast.<\/p>\n<p>The hackers also claimed that the data contained information on &#8220;royal families&#8221; and added that they planned to distribute the patient list and corresponding photos online.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are still working to establish exactly what data has been compromised,&#8221; LBPS said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are horrified that they have now targeted our patients.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape has-caption full-width\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image__img js-image-replace\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/2C5B\/production\/_98455311_gettyimages-612953548.jpg\" alt=\"Katie Price\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" data-highest-encountered-width=\"624\" \/><\/span><\/figure>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said it was notified of a suspected breach on 17 October.<\/p>\n<p>She added that there had been no arrests and that enquiries by the Organised Crime Command were continuing.<\/p>\n<p>LBPS is known to have high-profile clients, including model and TV presenter Katie Price, who recently\u00a0used her Instagram account\u00a0to thank the clinic for her facelift.<\/p>\n<p>The Information Commissioner&#8217;s Office said, &#8220;We are aware of this incident and are looking into the details.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All organisations are required under data protection law to keep people&#8217;s personal data safe and secure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Dark Overlord has claimed to be behind high-profile data breaches before, including one at US media firm Netflix earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In April, 10 episodes of the new series of TV show Orange is the New Black were released online after Netflix refused to pay a ransom.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A high-profile plastic surgery clinic has said it is &#8220;horrified&#8221; after hackers allegedly stole data during a cyber-attack.
