The acting Director of Communication for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Perry Okudzeto has dismissed claims that aspirants who are contesting for various positions in the NPP have been disqualified.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him \u201cno aspirant has been disqualified since none of them have been written to firm up that a final decision has been taken up on the aspirant.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIt is only when a letter is written to you, firming up and telling you finally that you have disqualified or you have passed the vetting that you can say whether you have been disqualified or you are part of the race,\u201d Mr. Okuzeto emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

There have been media reports that the vetting committee of NPP disqualified five aspirants from contesting for various positions in the party\u2019s upcoming congress to select national executives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Media reports further stated that Fred Amakwah Sarfo, Hajia Fatima, and Philomena Serwah Akoto (who were all vying for Vice-Chairmanship positions), Kamal Abdulai (who was contesting for Nasara Coordinator) and a fifth person who has not been named, have until Monday, February 17, 2014, to appeal against the decision of the vetting committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

But speaking on Eyewitness News,<\/b> Mr. Okudzeto stated that the reports were untrue adding that\u00a0 <\/span>the \u201ccommittee is still working on these things and will come up with a final verdict on the matters next week.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In that regard, he advised\u00a0 <\/span>party members such as Mr. Amankwah\u00a0 <\/span>and others to stop engaging the media and \u201cspeaking about a vetting that was behind a closed door session between them (aspirants)and vetting committee <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey should stop taking issue that have been discussed in confidence into the media , stop fuelling the speculations that is going on, and answering questions as to whether they have\u00a0 <\/span>gotten phone calls or not gotten phone calls from the Director of Communications.<\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that this is an internal party matter. It is a matter that has to do with the Committee and the aspirants and let\u2019s find a way of working together and working through it to bring it to close,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n
