{"id":357169,"date":"2017-09-27T06:00:17","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T06:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=357169"},"modified":"2017-11-10T11:10:36","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T11:10:36","slug":"vr-i-didnt-cause-arrest-of-security-coordinator-letsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=357169","title":{"rendered":"V\/R: I didn\u2019t cause arrest of security coordinator &#8211; Letsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Letsa, has denied ordering the<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> <a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/25\/vregional-security-coordinator-arrested-for-alleged-smuggling\/\">arrest of the Volta Regional Security Coordinator<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Apea Fenteng, saying the issue\u00a0had nothing to do with him.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Mr. Fenteng was only invited to assist the police after some complainants made allegations against him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;3s6ga5N7YADlWFdwdKWcbAnzo0oOaVAF&#8221;]Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0gathered on Monday that a special unit of the National Security at the Flagstaff House, had picked up Apea Fenteng for allegedly extorting monies from traders and aiding them to smuggle goods from Togo into the country.<\/p>\n<p>Appiah Fenteng, who was arrested at Tsito in the Ho West District of the Volta Region told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that he was certain the arrest was part of a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/26\/vregional-security-coordinator-denies-extorting-money-aiding-smuggling\/\">grand scheme by his detractors<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, including the Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Letsa, to have him removed from office due to his uncompromising stance on ensuring the right things are done.<\/p>\n<p>But Letsa, who was responding to the allegation on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Tuesday, said, \u201cIt is not true that I caused the arrest of the regional security liaison officer. There were allegations made against him and regional crime officer was around so he invited the complainant to his office and after interrogating them, the regional crime officer wanted to interrogate the regional security liaison officer and I asked them to invite him in they wanted to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Letsa also said it was untrue that he had written letters to higher authorities seeking the removal of Mr. Fenteng from office.<\/p>\n<p>He dared anyone who had evidence to the contrary, to make it public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been working together; we\u2019ve gone on trips together. We have a cordial working relationship and it is not true that I have written a letter anywhere asking him to be removed. I\u2019ve not done that. They should be able to provide evidence otherwise we should just forget about that baseless allegation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Archibald Letsa has pledged not to interfere with investigations into the allegations of corruption leveled against the regional security coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigations are ongoing and I can assure you that we will not do anything to interfere with the work of the police.
