{"id":351056,"date":"2017-09-05T21:18:42","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T21:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=351056"},"modified":"2017-11-10T12:05:23","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T12:05:23","slug":"glo-offices-opened-after-settling-tax-arrears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=351056","title":{"rendered":"Glo offices opened after settling tax arrears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reopened Glo Ghana&#8217;s Industrial Area office after it was closed down in July 2017 for failing to pay taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The office was closed down following the telecom company&#8217;s failure to pay taxes since 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Task Force at the GRA, Henry Bradford Sam confirmed the reopening to\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Glo has settled 1.3 million Ghana cedis out of the 11, 884,396.89\u00a0million cedis owed the Authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter Glo was closed down, what happened was that they appealed to the Commissioner General for a special dispensation to pay the tax in installments so an arrangement was made for them to effect payment. They have made a first payment of 1.3 million Ghana cedis out of the 11.8 million cedis\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>The GRA&#8217;s decision to close Glo&#8217;s office was also after the company was given about a year to discuss modalities of payment with the GRA but refused.<\/p>\n<p>Two other companies, Ohene Media and Kingsman Trading Company were closed down for owing GHS367, 586.37 and GHS42016566.58 respectively at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Henry Bradford Sam\u00a0tells\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0an additional 1.3 million Ghana cedis is to be settled this month to avoid another confrontation from them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubsequently, they will be making monthly payments until the amount owed is fully liquidated.
