What has that got to do with the government?&#8221; Mr. Pelpuo quizzed on <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Big Issue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He [William Quaitoo] decided that he wanted to resign and he resigned and the government accepted his resignation. It has got nothing to do with an effort by the government, at least, on the face value.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Quaitoo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, faced the scorn of the public, the National Democratic Congress Minority, and some civil society groups, for making ethnocentric comments, after saying northern farmers could not be trusted in their assessment of the damage from the army worm.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_349396\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-349396\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-349396\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/William-Quaitoo.jpg\" alt=\"William Quaitoo\" width=\"640\" height=\"377\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-349396\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">William Quaitoo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr. Quaitoo also said the calls on government\u00a0for compensation by the northern farmers were simply a ploy\u00a0to fleece the state.<\/p>\n<p>The resignation was welcomed by the public but Mr. Pelpuo was adamant that the &#8220;government hasn\u2019t done anything heroic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the Mahama Administration, he noted that the likes of the\u00a0Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor and Power Minister, Kwabena Donkor resigned for varying reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Dzifa Attivor was embroiled in the SMARTTYS bus branding saga and Kwabena Donkor&#8217;s resignation was related to the country&#8217;s crippling power crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Pelpuo further said the eventual course of events was the only way the government could have saved face.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be more embarrassing for the government if the President said; \u2018I don\u2019t accept your resignation\u2019 and then the Minister insisted that he resign.
