SWIMMING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson won his heat in the \u00a0Men’s 100m butterfly on the 27th of July at the Tollcross Swimming Centre in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The swimmer finished top of his heat in a time of 1:01.40 but he could not qualify to the next round of the event as his time was out of the qualification zones.<\/p>\n

South Africa’s Chad Le Clos topped the list of the 16 swimmers who made it through after recording a time of 52.68 seconds.<\/p>\n

BOXING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Things did not improve as boxer David Akankolim lost his Super Heavy weight round of 16 tie against Kennedy St.Pierre from Mauritius by three rounds to zero.<\/p>\n

There was some good news though as Jesse Lartey beat Olivier Nshingiro in the Men’s Light weight Round of 16 bout by three rounds to zero. Lartey now progresses to the quarter finals of the event.<\/p>\n

In other results, Abdul Omar beat J.K. Raka of Papua New Guinea in the Men\u2019s Flyweight by three rounds.<\/p>\n

He will meet Anurudha Rathnayake of Sri Lanka on the 29th<\/sup> of July<\/p>\n

TABLE TENNIS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ghana lost to Trinidad and Tobago by three matches to zero in the men’s team classification final played on the 27th of July.<\/p>\n

Ghana’s team of Derek Abrefa, Emmanuel Commey, and Felix Lartey could not get the result against the Caribbeans who had Aaron Wilson, Curtis Humphreys and Curtis St.Louis on their team.<\/p>\n

ATHLETICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Timothy Abeyie could not qualify from the men\u2019s 100m round 1 after he finished 3rd<\/sup> with a time of 10.50 seconds.<\/p>\n

Mohammed Kassim came 23rd<\/sup> in the men\u2019s marathon and that race was won by Michael Shelley of Australia.<\/p>\n

Flings Owusu-Agyapong qualified for the women\u2019s 100m semi-final after making a time of 11.68 seconds in the heats.<\/p>\n

She will run in Lane 1 of the first semi-final on Monday 28th<\/sup> July.<\/p>\n

Mathilde Boateng will take part in the women\u2019s triple jump heats on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Kwadwo Acheampong will run in the men\u2019s 400m heats on the 28th<\/sup> of July.<\/p>\n

MEDALS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ghana has not added to the single bronze medal won by Razak Abugri in Judo and thus, the nation lies 21st on the rankings table.<\/p>\n
