{"id":337854,"date":"2017-07-19T18:34:56","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T18:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=337854"},"modified":"2017-07-19T18:34:56","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T18:34:56","slug":"maxwell-mahamas-mum-receives-posthumous-msc-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=337854","title":{"rendered":"Maxwell Mahama&#8217;s mum receives posthumous MSc [Video]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The mother of Maxwell Mahama got a stirring reception at the University of Leicester Degree Congregation last Thursday as she received a posthumous Master of Science in Security and Risk Management on behalf of her late son.<\/p>\n<p>Then Captain Maxwell Mahama was attacked by a mob in Denkyira Obuasi back in May after they had reportedly mistaken him for a robber, and died as a result of the injuries he sustained.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Major-Mahama-certificate.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-337858\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Major-Mahama-certificate-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"major-mahama-certificate\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He was posthumously promoted to the position of Major following the widespread furore that greeted the incident.<\/p>\n<p>An Accra Magistrate Court has since ordered for the nineteen people being tried for the incident to be <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/19\/major-mahamas-killers-remanded\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>remanded into custody<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The school<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/01\/capt-mahama-was-to-graduate-with-msc-leicester-university\/\"><strong> in a post on its website<\/strong><\/a><\/span> said when news of his death broke that they had \u201clearnt, with great regret, of the death of Maxwell Mahama, a Captain in the Ghanaian Army.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The post added that \u201che had enrolled on the degree in 2015 and was due to graduate at this summer\u2019s degree ceremonies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madam Veronica Bamford could\u00a0hardly control her\u00a0emotions as she\u00a0stepped up to the podium to receive the certificate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Major-Mahama-certificate1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-337859\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Major-Mahama-certificate1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"major-mahama-certificate1\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The crowd gathered at the auditorium rose as one to acknowledge their fallen counterpart, sustaining their applause for over half a minute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>See video here:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-337854-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Degree-Congregation-3pm-Thursday-13-July-2017-University-of-Leicester.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Degree-Congregation-3pm-Thursday-13-July-2017-University-of-Leicester.mp4\">http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Degree-Congregation-3pm-Thursday-13-July-2017-University-of-Leicester.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Major Mahama was <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/09\/tears-flow-at-major-mahamas-funeral-photos\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>laid to rest in June<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, at the Osu Military Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The mother of Maxwell Mahama got a stirring reception at the University of Leicester Degree Congregation last Thursday as she received a posthumous Master of Science in Security and Risk Management on behalf of her late son.
