Bobi, 35, won a by-election for Kyadondo East, a constituency in central Uganda, on June 29 as an independent candidate.<\/p>\n<p>He was sworn in on Tuesday, July 11 at parliament buildings in Kampala. Both the governing National Resistance Movement and opposition parties have been wooing the newly elected MP.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-336155\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bobi-Wine-5.jpg\" alt=\"bobi-wine-5\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, many of his supporters reportedly want him to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in the country&#8217;s 2021 election.<\/p>\n<p>Bobi was pictured recently shaking President Museveni&#8217;s hand at a public event, something that angered his supporters on social media.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-336152\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bobi-Wine-4-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"bobi-wine-4\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In response, he said: &#8220;I am a leader&#8230;and this country has a president. When I meet him on a function, especially on a funeral of a respected leader, it is only civilized that I greet him with respect. So my greeting to the president was courtesy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-336153\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Bobi-Wine-2.gif\" alt=\"bobi-wine-2\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>His most recent song, Situka, urged Ugandans to rise against injustice and corruption.
