{"id":328678,"date":"2017-06-15T17:48:52","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T17:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=328678"},"modified":"2017-06-15T17:48:52","modified_gmt":"2017-06-15T17:48:52","slug":"ndc-man-sues-ag-for-defending-ofori-atta-in-bond-saga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=328678","title":{"rendered":"NDC man sues AG for defending Ofori-Atta in bond saga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mark Oliver Kevor, has challenged the capacity of the Attorney General to serve as a legal representative for the Finance Minister in a petition before the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), calling for an\u00a0investigation into the alleged conflict of interest in the $2.25 billion bond issue.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kevor, who has filed a suit at the Supreme Court, is praying the court to the stop AG from representing the finance minister.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;eX9PMOEGxbrqmRxRX3LdPthkylwyXQRW&#8221;]According to the plaintiff, the action of the AG in responding to the petition on behalf of Ken Ofori -Atta is unconstitutional and must be declared null void.<\/p>\n<p>The suit comes after the Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame, in a 16-page response to CHRAJ\u2019s enquiry in a petition brought by the Ashanti Regional NDC\u00a0organizer, Yaw Brogya Gyamfi,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/31\/dismiss-brogya-genfis-petition-on-2-25bn-bond-govt\/\">defende<\/a>d<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0the Finance Minister over allegations that he may have been involved in a conflict of interest situation in the $2.25 billion domestic bond issued by government.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Genfi petitioned CHRAJ to investigate the bond on grounds that the\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Ofori-Atta attempted to \u201cpromote a personal interest for himself, as well as family and friends, which interfered with the objective exercise of his duties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A member of the NDC legal team, Abraham Amaliba, had previously described the Attorney General&#8217;s office&#8217;s decision to respond to the petition brought before CHRAJ as an irregularity.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Amaliba explained\u00a0that,\u00a0the defence from the AG&#8217;s office was wrong, because \u201cthe case before CHRAJ is a case personal to Ken Ofori Atta.
