{"id":327810,"date":"2017-06-12T18:42:30","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T18:42:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=327810"},"modified":"2017-06-12T18:42:30","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T18:42:30","slug":"1m-one-constituency-money-ready-for-disbursement-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=327810","title":{"rendered":"$1m, one constituency money ready for disbursement &#8211; Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry for Special Development Initiatives has disclosed that the $275 million to be disbursed to all constituencies across the country is ready.<\/p>\n<p>The sector, Minister Hawa Koomson, explained\u00a0that 70 \u00a0percent of the $1 million dollars for each constituency, will be spent on government&#8217;s priority projects such as the &#8220;One district-one factory, one\u00a0village one\u00a0dam, warehouses for planting for food and jobs among others.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;d6x0FmjRa7phVnOku9dzLazYmVa9U3Yg&#8221;]The remaining 30 percent will be used for the priority constituency needs, which will be determined by a 10-member team approved by Cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Koomson said, \u201cthat is where we want the MPs, the MMDCEs and the stakeholders to come together and come out with a plan so that they can get a project for the needs of the constituency and then implement them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minister was speaking at a Ministry of Special Development Initiatives programme to brief MMDCES on government&#8217;s priority areas on the Infrastructure Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).<\/p>\n<p>The Akufo-Addo administration had already indicated that, IPEP would cater for its $1 million per constituency promise.<\/p>\n<p>The project was also expected to have a direct link with government\u2019s one district one factory project, which is estimated to cost GH\u00a2456.3 million and create about 350,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IPEP to work with\u00a0development authorities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Koomson also noted that, IPEP will be working with the various development authorities, including the yet-t-be launched\u00a0Northern Development Authority, Coastal Development\u00a0Authority, and the Middle\u00a0Belt Development Authority.<\/p>\n<p>These three authorities are pending Parliamentary approval hence the need for the\u00a010-member team to establish the priorities in the various constituencies, she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President has\u00a0realized\u00a0that if we want to wait on till the authorities are implemented before we can do these development initiatives, it will be very difficult for us; so he says we should put in place a\u00a0provisional measure so we can do the implementation this year.
