{"id":32731,"date":"2014-07-18T00:26:48","date_gmt":"2014-07-18T00:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=32731"},"modified":"2014-07-18T07:52:36","modified_gmt":"2014-07-18T07:52:36","slug":"fire-guts-kumasi-central-market-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=32731","title":{"rendered":"Fire guts Kumasi Central Market again"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"stcpDiv\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Portions of the Kumasi Central Market have been destroyed in a fire suspected to have started \u00a0around 8:30pm on \u00a0Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The blaze has destroyed shops and property worth thousands of <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"024f0626-10b6-4de9-99af-f510d3d2e12a\">Cedis<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">Eyewitnesses say the part of the market known as the\u00a0<em>18-yard<\/em>\u00a0area \u00a0through to the second-hand clothes section were the worst hit\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">Reports indicate that personnel from the Regional Fire Service were at the scene working to put the fire out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bridget, a trader who spoke to Citi News, said only a handful of policemen and two fire trucks were on site.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;We heard about the fire around 9pm and rushed to the scene. The whole 18-yard area is gone. There are two fire service trucks and I saw only one policeman and a lot of people around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;the 18-yard and other areas were on fire. It started right at the entrance of the market.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to Bridget, traders at the scene attempting to save their wares.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Market fires are common in Ghana.
