Maxwell Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The late <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/30\/soldier-mistakenly-lynched-and-burnt-at-diaso\/\">Captain Maxwell Mahama<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s<\/span>\u00a0death has undoubtedly caused great pain to many Ghanaians especially considering the manner in which he died.<\/p>\n<p>A few people who have had personal encounters with the deceased military man have tried to recount fond memories of him and what they know about him.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;JOewnIkVBMaVEfr5fWFRLkyZR9yvOAcM&#8221;]But what more do we know about Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama?<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> He was born in 1985 and was 31 years old.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> He was born to a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/30\/diaso-lynching-capt-mahama-was-deployed-to-fight-galamsey-uncle\/\"><strong>military officer<\/strong><\/a><\/span> [his father \u2013 3rd Infantry battalion Capt. Chubby Adam Mahama (RTD)] whose father was also a military officer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> He attended Services Basic School and John Teye Memorial School and Akosombo International for his basic education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> He is an old student [Old Saint] of Saint John School, Sekondi\u00a0[Completed in 2004].<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> He joined the Military after Senior High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> He enrolled and studied Political Science at the University of Ghana [Accra City Campus]<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> He completed his first Masters\u2019 degree program after his BA degree.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> He had enrolled in an MSc Criminology program in 2015 [Distance Learning] at the University of Leicester and was due to\u00a0due to graduate at this summer\u2019s degree ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> He got married to Barbara in August 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong> The couple has two children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11.<\/strong> He loves to play tennis and does so at the professional level<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.<\/strong> He is peace loving and often prefers dialogue in addressing situations according to his father.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.<\/strong> He had just completed an exam to be promoted to the rank of a \u2018Major\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.<\/strong> He is a nephew to former President John Dramani Mahama<\/p>\n<p>The deceased, Captain Maxwell\u00a0Adam Mahama, was lynched with parts of his body burnt by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Upper West Denkyira District of the Central Region.<\/p>\n<p>Different accounts have been given about how he actually died on the fateful day of Monday, 29th May, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports said he was mistaken for an armed robber by residents after he was seen jogging in civilian clothes with a gun on him.<\/p>\n<p>Later, reports suggested he was attacked and killed by the townsfolk who identified him as a soldier deployed to stop them from undertaking illegal small-scale mining in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Seven persons are currently standing trial for their suspected roles in the murder.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The late Captain Maxwell Mahama&#8216;s\u00a0death has undoubtedly caused great pain to many Ghanaians especially considering the manner in which he died.
