{"id":32336,"date":"2014-07-16T15:35:12","date_gmt":"2014-07-16T15:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=32336"},"modified":"2014-07-16T16:47:52","modified_gmt":"2014-07-16T16:47:52","slug":"spio-garbrah-should-have-been-energy-minister-franklin-cudjoe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=32336","title":{"rendered":"Spio Garbrah should have been Energy Minister &#8211; Franklin Cudjoe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Executive Director of IMANI Ghana has described the latest Ministerial reshuffle by President John Mahama as a \u2018new set of musical chairs.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Although Franklin Cudjoe considers the inclusion of Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah as a Trade and Industry Minister as innovative, he suggested that he should have been the\u00a0Energy Minister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not too sure that Dr. Spio Garbrah will have too much to do at the Trade Ministry because the Trade Ministry is not in turmoil; it\u2019s the Energy Ministry that is in total chaos,\u201d he opined.<\/p>\n<p>The IMANI boss also indicated that the Energy Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah should have been made the Western Regional Minister.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, if the President is bringing in experienced persons like Spio Garbrah to help, \u201cyou probably would want to make him do a lot of work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Cudjoe added that \u201cwe should have had a lot more or imagination, innovation but as we speak, I\u2019m not enthused at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the Managing Editor of the Al-hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu said the President should be commended for taking a bold step to revamp his administration but to him these changes are not significant enough.<\/p>\n<p>He told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, it is refreshing to know that the President has acknowledged the fact that \u201che needs to do something about his appointees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He however said the President failed to make significant movement of his appointees \u201cbut it is refreshing to have somebody like Spio Garbrah in government today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alhaji Bature added that it would have been more prudent for Spio Garbrah to be closer to the President than serve as a sector Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Political Scientist at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kojo Aidoo insists the latest reshuffle\u00a0will not make\u00a0any real impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a strategic move; it is rather practical.
