{"id":318916,"date":"2017-05-14T08:00:38","date_gmt":"2017-05-14T08:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=318916"},"modified":"2017-05-14T08:00:38","modified_gmt":"2017-05-14T08:00:38","slug":"savelugu-mce-nominee-confirmed-despite-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=318916","title":{"rendered":"Savelugu MCE nominee confirmed despite protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The President\u2019s Municipal Chief Executive nominee for the Savelugu\/Nantong Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region, has been confirmed despite two demonstrations against her nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty out of 64 assembly members voted yes for Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, whose nomination sparked hostilities in the Savelugu Township.<\/p>\n<p>The assembly members on Saturday downplayed the impact of the demonstrations and gave her the nod.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, described the development as a sigh of relief.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Savelugu-MCE-nominee-confirmed-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-318921\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Savelugu-MCE-nominee-confirmed-3.jpg\" alt=\"savelugu-mce-nominee-confirmed-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He assured other MCE aspirants of juicy appointments, and urged them to support Hajia Ayishetu Seidu to deliver her mandate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following Hajia Ayishetu Seidu\u2019s nomination, the governing New Patriotic Party&#8217;s (NPP) Savelugu constituency executives joined hundreds of the party youth in protest.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s Organizer, Kande Amadu, posited that, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu was not a registered voter in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>She claimed that Hajia Ayishetu Seidu never participated in any party activities ahead of the 2016 polls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Female MDCE nominees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Three out of four female nominees among the 26 MMDCEs in the Northern Region, have been confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>They are Mariam Iddrisu for Sagnarigu, Alele Veronica Heming for Bole and Hajia Ayishetu Seidu for Savelugu\/Nantong districts.<\/p>\n<p>It is anticipated that, the President\u2019s District Chief Executive nominee for the Tolon district, Hajia Amama Shaibu will \u00a0be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President\u2019s Municipal Chief Executive nominee for the Savelugu\/Nantong Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region, has been confirmed despite two demonstrations against her nomination.
