A Ho circuit court has fined Dodzi Gidisu, driver of a pick-up truck, GHC 840 or in default serve a nine-month jail term with hard labour for causing the death of one Moses Akpabli, a motor rider.<\/p>\n
The court presided over by Madam Priscilla Dikro, ordered Gidisu to pay a compensation of GHC 1500 to the bereaved family and further directed the family to pursue the vehicle\u2019s insurer for their claims.<\/p>\n
According to the facts of the case, Gidisu was driving the truck from Ho towards Aflao with one passenger on board.<\/p>\n
He allegedly tried to overtake a yellow coloured salon car around Tritrinu, and in the process collided with Akpabli on a motorbike.<\/p>\n
Akpabli was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Volta Regional Teaching Hospital in Ho.<\/p>\n
Gidisu was found guilty on his own plea and fined 70 penalty units for careless driving and negligently causing harm.<\/p>\n
