The Gambia&#8217;s national flag was however represented correctly with its traditional red, blue and green, separated by white stripes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/18118964_10155267001669836_617053820841280072_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314978\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/18118964_10155267001669836_617053820841280072_n.jpg\" alt=\"18118964_10155267001669836_617053820841280072_n\" width=\"632\" height=\"421\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/18119004_10155267000464836_5729316821640571468_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314982\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/18119004_10155267000464836_5729316821640571468_n.jpg\" alt=\"18119004_10155267000464836_5729316821640571468_n\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, a Foreign Affairs Minister under the John Mahama government, Hanna Tetteh, pointed out this oversight on Twitter, and attributed it the possible distraction of the\u00a0protocol office.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Flag-upside-down.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314977\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Flag-upside-down.jpg\" alt=\"flag-upside-down\" width=\"630\" height=\"499\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t known to be a common occurrence in Ghana, but in\u00a02015, when Charlotte Osei was sworn in as the Electoral Commission Chairperson, she was pictured with the Ghana flag colors upside down, and some onlookers on social media took note.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/11267052_900205660041044_7566279921049179678_o-e1493476251577.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" States is known to be an officially recognized signal of distress.<\/p>\n<p>However, in places like Hong Kong, it is considered an act of desecration with activist, Cheng Chung-tai, notably arrested and charged with desecrating the national and SAR flags in 2016, after he turned several small flags upside down as an act of protest against China.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b946b9c6-1dc9-11e7-ba38-4217a96bb749_1280x720_205006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter resort to turning flags upside down to voice their displeasure with a particular situation.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently this April, demonstrators\u00a0in Venezuela have paraded their national flag upside
