{"id":313358,"date":"2017-04-24T06:16:19","date_gmt":"2017-04-24T06:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=313358"},"modified":"2017-04-24T06:16:19","modified_gmt":"2017-04-24T06:16:19","slug":"the-21-day-stopgalamseynow-ultimatum-story-infographic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=313358","title":{"rendered":"Galamsey fight: What we&#8217;ve done so far [Infographic]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources&#8217; declaration of a 21-day ultimatum to all illegal miners to cease their operations and surrender their equipment, a number of significant actions have taken place.<\/p>\n<p>These actions form part of concerted national efforts to root out the illegal mining menace that has devastated the country\u2019s environment.<\/p>\n<p>The infographic below details the key actions that have happened within the 21-day ultimatum period.<\/p>\n<p>The key actors as shown in the image include the Media, Judiciary, Security agencies and the Ministry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/24\/the-21-day-stopgalamseynow-ultimatum-story-infographic\/galamsey-storyline-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-313468 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Galamsey-storyline-1.png\" alt=\"galamsey-storyline\" width=\"2662\" height=\"1549\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many communities in Ghana are currently suffering the negative effects of galamsey which has left most of Ghana\u2019s fresh water poisonous.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of acres of fertile farmlands have also been destroyed as a result of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/22\/we-cant-leave-galamsey-fight-for-future-generations-frimpong-boateng\/\"><strong>galamsey<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.
