{"id":310446,"date":"2017-04-13T13:06:01","date_gmt":"2017-04-13T13:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=310446"},"modified":"2017-04-13T13:06:01","modified_gmt":"2017-04-13T13:06:01","slug":"8-delta-force-court-raiders-granted-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=310446","title":{"rendered":"8 Delta Force court raiders granted bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight members of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) \u00a0vigilante group, Delta Force, who appeared before a court\u00a0on the 10th of April for allegedly assisting 13 of their members <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/06\/npp-delta-force-storms-court-set-suspects-free\/\">to escape remand<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0from court, have been granted bail by a Kumasi High Court.<\/p>\n<p>The bail conditions are GHc 10,000 each with two sureties, and they are also to report to the police CID on Tuesday,\u00a0April 18, before 3:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The eight had <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/10\/8-delta-force-members-remanded-over-court-raid\/\">been denied<\/a><\/strong><\/span> bail by a Kumasi Circuit court on Monday, April 10, when they were remanded in police custody.<\/p>\n<p>Their lawyers had argued that, the case was bailable, but the bail plea was turned down by the presiding judge.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers subsequently took their plea for a bail to the High Court after the denial.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_309781\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-309781\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-309781 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Delta-force-13-in-court-3.jpg\" alt=\"File photo: Delta Force members in court\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-309781\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">File photo: Delta Force members in court<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The eight have been\u00a0charged\u00a0with disturbing a court session, for resisting arrest, and freeing\u00a0the 13 persons who were in lawful custody.<\/p>\n<p>The 13 Delta Force members who were freed, were facing charges for raiding the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and assaulting its coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>The 13 have since been granted bail, and are to reappear before the court on the 20th of April, 2017, after charges of conspiracy to assault a public officer and causing unlawful damage.<\/p>\n<p>They were also <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/12\/13-delta-force-escapees-granted-bail\/\">granted bail<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of GHc 10,000 each, with two sureties who must be residents of Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the 13 have already been tried for escaping from court. \u00a0They were each fined Ghc2,400 each, and made to sign a bond of good behaviour for six months.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Lauretta Timah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight members of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) \u00a0vigilante group, Delta Force, who appeared before a court\u00a0on the 10th of April for allegedly assisting 13 of their members to escape remand\u00a0from court, have been granted bail by a Kumasi High Court.
