{"id":30529,"date":"2014-07-09T07:06:47","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T07:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=30529"},"modified":"2014-07-09T07:06:47","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T07:06:47","slug":"korle-bu-ceo-was-incompetent-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=30529","title":{"rendered":"Korle Bu CEO was incompetent \u2013 Staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senior Staff Association of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"3fbcce83-5142-426f-ba80-06bc7f0fae98\">say<\/span> they are very pleased with <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"3de44606-d138-4d01-99ec-6e844a76b1ed\">government&#8217;s order<\/span> for the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital to step down because he was a non-performer.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Health in a statement ordered Reverend Albert Botchway to step down and revert to his position on the hospital\u2019s board.<\/p>\n<p>Rev. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f125400a-bc14-40d0-8546-eb5baa6eaa20\">Botchway<\/span> and the board chairman, Eddie Annan have come under intense pressure from the senior staff association for allegedly mismanaging hospital funds and spending more than GHC 1 million on luxury vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The association petitioned the President, John Mahama to intervene in the matter by dissolving the hospital board.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Ministry subsequently ordered the board to return the vehicles or personally pay the cost.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the President of the association, Charles Nii Kwadey Offei Palm said they are satisfied with the directive, but the board should have been dissolved as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also not happy at the same time because we think the directive could have gone further to dissolve the board,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, although the statement from the Health Ministry did not assign any reason for the directive given, he is convinced Rev. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"40e8824c-4f64-4ed9-988f-a262eb6f94c3\">Botchway<\/span> was dismissed because of their appeals to the president.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that \u201cit will be suicidal for any person in government or any institution to have allowed Opkoti to continue to act as the CEO.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"b3b67847-bb0f-43ba-bd64-a6ece6bd3ffa\">Offei<\/span> Palm alleged that Rev. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f964cd7e-db5b-49d1-a231-37b5285ccfeb\">Botchway\u2019s<\/span> appointment as the acting CEO of the hospital was illegal based on the Act 525 which establishes the teaching hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that the members of the association were planning a massive demonstration against the management of the hospital \u201cand we think that must have also contributed <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"212fa21b-4cec-49f6-ae2f-c6154974ba6b\">for<\/span> his push<span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"fae026d5-d023-4d5f-b67e-a4a466a7a8a9\">\u2026<\/span>he is a non-performer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/osamidan\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @osamidan<\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Senior Staff Association of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital say they are very pleased with government&#8217;s order for the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital to step down because he was a non-performer.
