The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong says the party is vigorously preparing to win the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
According to him, the leadership of the NPP is dealing with its internal matters to present a formidable front to take over the governance of the nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are preparing ourselves, we are ready to take up the governance of this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The NPP closed its nominations on Monday and all seven aspirants\u2019 gunning to lead the party in the 2016 general elections have filed their nominations.<\/p>\n
They are two-time presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyeremanten, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, Francis Addai Nimoh, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng and Joe Ghartey.<\/p>\n
Speaking on\u00a0Eyewitness News<\/strong>\u00a0on Monday, Mr. Agyapong<\/span> said the NPP is the only party in Ghana which is making significant progress by putting the right structures in place ahead of a national election.<\/p>\n He pointed out that the NPP has successfully organized polling station elections in 26,000 polling stations and \u201cwe have gone through 275 constituency elections\u2026we\u2019ve had regional elections in 10 regions, we\u2019ve had a national election and we have new executives in place.\u201d<\/p>\n According to him, \u201cno political party has been able to achieve that as we speak; not even the ruling government.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Agyapong was convinced that the NPP is \u201con the right track\u201d and served notice that the party \u201cwill get down to the battle of getting our message across to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n The seven presidential nominations will be forwarded to the vetting committee after which the aspirants will appear before the committee to be vetted.<\/p>\n The NPP General Secretary disclosed that if no issue comes up during the vetting process which will lead to the disqualification of an aspirant, all seven will be \u201csigned off as the official aspirants for the nomination of flagbearership of our party.\u201d<\/p>\n He however clarified that if all seven candidates pass the vetting process \u201cthen we will have to go according to our constitution\u201d which states that \u201cif more than five candidates filing, then we will have super delegates conference\u201d to prune down the number to five.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
